Glimpse of the Future

A Glimpse into the Future

Imagine a world where you pay for internet service as you go. That’s what I believe is on the horizon for the future of technology. It comes with you, utilizing only one device. This is not that far off. No longer will you have to pay for cellular service, fiber service, and be limited to the immediate area, where if you go out of range of your WiFi service you lose connectivity. I’m not talking about the current technologies out there. What I envision is a service that is provided by satellite constellations that can be readily deployed at a cost basis that makes sense.

Enter, the future of the internet. There are already development plans for a system of satellites that can be launched and paid for using cryptocurrencies. These systems will use the blockchain to make sure their operating system cannot be tampered with. You will no longer have subscription services that cost you money whether you use them or not. You will pay as needed and have a subscriptionless service. Either by daily, monthly, or even annually paying, you will be provided access that is free from censorship, cannot be traced directly to you, and cannot be shut off. Each of the receiver devices will become your central hub and in case you are worried about criminals using these devices to anonymously access the internet, each device can have a unique serial number to easily track down malicious users in case law enforcement needs to be involved. The devices and the traffic themselves will be subscriptionless and the payment method relies upon simply funding your account. Hackers will no longer be able to modify the code that the device runs on as it will be using blockchain technology to operate. This provides a safe, worry free way to access the internet from anywhere your device is.

We currently have systems like this in place, satellite internet, but that technology is spotty, expensive, restricted, and is prone to denial of service attacks. The blockchain technology eliminates these problems by using a secure, distributed ledger to validate the code inside of the memory. In the event of a suspected core code alteration, one would simply press a button and have that code verified by the blockchain. This can be either automatic or on demand. No more updates as each time you turn the device on, it accesses the blockchain to retrieve the code it needs to run as part of it’s standard operating procedure.

Imagine this, you wake up, turn your device on, and fund your internet access account for the day. You access your morning emails on your PC. You then bring your receiver with you as you enter your vehicle and have internet access while you drive to your destination without having to use multiple devices. A smartphone like device, internet enabled tablet, or even the car’s onboard computer use the receiver to gain internet access. You then go to your destination and the receiver can provide you internet access there as well whether it be at the beach, the store, your place of employment, wherever you decide to end up. All this is done securely without having to worry about compromised WiFi spots, fake cellphone towers, stingray monitoring devices or other pitfalls that dissuade consumer confidence. You no longer need multiple subscriptions for the same service. You don’t have to worry about your credit score taking a hit as you pay as you go without a subscription.

Trading on markets and making a fast buck might be nice to some people. In the long run, however, you are trading your future by not investing in these technologies. Investing short-term in cryptocurrencies may seem like a plausible way to earn an income but make no mistake, it is not. You are merely ripping off your own future and putting it into the hands of someone who will take this technology and resell it back to you at a much higher cost. That’s not the only downside to short term investing. You are delaying a future where you will benefit and make more money actually using this technology than you can ever even imagine simply buying and selling your cryptocurrencies. At some point you have to decide if you would rather have a better future that lasts past even your own lifetime? Or would you rather have a better day? The answer is painfully obvious.

“It’s not whether you win or lose that matters, it’s how you play the game.” Never more has this expression come into play as with investing. Sure, facts and figures don’t lie. It’s the effect they have that matters. Someone could have all the money in the world but what’s that really worth when the world that has been created isn’t worth spending that money on? I don’t really desire wealth at this point in time as there isn’t a whole lot to spend it on. Disaster is around every corner, the world is at war, global tensions are at an all time high. Wealth seems more of a liability that one would have to worry about rather then enjoy. It’s almost like cheating at an online game people play for entertainment. Yeah, your stats appear to be impressive but no-one really cares and everyone can see that it’s not real. The only people that are impressed are the types of people you don’t really want to impress. In other words, it’s all for nothing.

Now, this technology isn’t publicly available at the time of this writing. This is something that proper investment in the future will bring. How you choose to invest is up to you. If you feel comfortable with doubling your money investing in something that isn’t good for your own future, then more power to you. But, you will have to accept the reality that this type of investing will bring forth. We all have choices to make in this world, make sure you make the right ones.
